Left hinge or right hinge?
The hinge is the side the door swings from. Stand facing the space: if the fridge sits against a wall on its right, a right-hinge door opens flat against that wall and leaves the inside fully open to you. SMEG retro fridge doors cannot be swapped to the other side afterwards, so each colour is sold as a left-hinge or a right-hinge model. Not every colour is made in both.

Frequently asked questions
Which SMEG fridge should I buy?
The FAB10 mini fridge for a bar or office, the FAB28 for a couple or small household, the FAB30 or FAB32 for a family that needs a proper freezer, and the 80cm FAB50 for a large family. For a modern or built-in kitchen, choose a Universale model.
What is the difference between the SMEG FAB28, FAB30 and FAB32?
All three are 60cm wide. The FAB28 is a single-door fridge with a 26 litre freezer compartment inside. The FAB30 adds a separate 72 litre top freezer. The FAB32 is the tallest, with a 97 litre bottom freezer and Total No Frost.
Should I choose a left-hinge or right-hinge SMEG fridge?
Choose the hinge on the side nearest a wall, so the door opens flat against it. The hinge cannot be swapped later, so left- and right-hinge versions are separate models.
How much is a SMEG fridge in South Africa?
At Veldware Trading SMEG fridges cost R15,839 to R166,399. The price depends on the model, colour and finish.
