Stovetop kettle: boil water during load-shedding
The SMEG CKLW2001 whistling stovetop kettle (2.3 litres) sits on the hob instead of a power base, so it keeps working on a gas hob when the power is off. It suits induction hobs as well, and the whistle tells you when the water has boiled. It comes in eight colours that match the electric kettles.
SMEG special edition kettles
Beyond the classic colours, the KLF03 comes in matt finishes (such as Black, White, Champagne, Emerald Green and Storm Blue) and in special editions: Porsche Design (Carrara White, Shade Green) and Dolce and Gabbana. These are the top of the SMEG kettle price range and a favourite for gifts.
Looking after your SMEG kettle
Many parts of South Africa have hard water, which leaves limescale inside a kettle. Descale regularly, following the method in the SMEG user manual. It keeps the kettle boiling quickly and the water tasting clean, and it protects the heating element.
